Princesses of Pearls- The Story!

The Story

This a story is of two princesses who lived during the Ching Dynasty. Zi Wei, a very talented girl is trying to find her father, Emperor Chien Lung (who doesn't even know Zi Wei exists). Before Zi Wei's mother died, she told Zi Wei the truth about her father. Zi Wei and her maid Jing Suo tried many different ways to meet her father, but none of the king's court would help her because they won't even listen to her and send her out of their way. Right when she is hopeless, she meets a big-eyed, trouble-making girl named Swallow. The two girls become best friends and eventually become god sisters.

One day Swallow found out that the King and his people are going for a deer hunt. The three girls (Swallow, Zi Wei, and Jing Suo) plan to climb up a huge mountain in order to reach the hunting place. Zi Wei tried and tried but she couldn't climb up the steep mountain. She asked Swallow (who knows a little martial arts) to be the messenger. She take her mother's painting and fan that was painted by her father as evidence that she is who she claims she is.

Meanwhile, Chien Lung, Yong Chi (his son, the Fifth Prince), Er Kang and Er Thai (the King's bodyguards) are hunting for deer. Yong Chi spots a deer and aims. All of a sudden Swallow is right behind the deer and the arrow hits her shoulder. Yong Chi brings her over to Chien Lung. He looks suspiciously at her, especially at the expression of her eyes. As Zi Wei's possessions fly out, Chien Lung sees the painting and fan. Swallow faints.

Zi Wei believes that Swallow is captured by the King and sent to jail, or even be sentenced to death because of the rumors that someone tried to kill the King.

Swallow has a fever and Chien Lung asks her questions, such as "What's your name? Who's your mother? What's her name? When were you born?" She answers his questions with the information Zi Wei has told her. After recognizing the two items and remembering the look Swallow had before she became unconscious, Chien Lung comes to the conclusion that this must be his daughter. Later on, Swallow wakes up and she thinks "I must be in heaven, the bed is so comfortable, and the room is so beautiful." Then in comes the Queen and Rung Mo Mo, and she over hears their conversation. If she is an impostor, she'll be sentenced to death. Swallow is very afraid to die. She loves having maids help her with everything, so she decides to "borrow" Zi Wei's place as being princess for a couple of days.

Swallow is given the tittle "Return Princess of Pearl." She wants to leave the palace and tell Zi Wei that she delivered her message. Swallow tells Ling Fei (Chien Lung's favorite wife) that she wants to go home. Ling Fei thinks that she still isn't adjusted to royalty. Swallow asks her what will happen to her if she is not the princess. She tells her to never say that again because Swallow, Ling Fei, and many other people will be sentenced to death. Swallow is stuck, she can't do anything now.

One day Chien Lung decides to take Swallow to the Temple of Heaven. Since she is his daughter, she must pay her respects to her ancestors. By doing this, there is a parade of telling the country that Chien Lung has a new daughter. During this parade, Zi Wei and Jing Suo see her waving to the peasants. They chase after her, but the King's court think she is here to disturb this parade. The army start to beat Zi Wei up, then Er Kang (Chien Lung's bodyguard and the Fifth Prince's best friend) comes out to save her. Zi Wei crawls up to him and recites the poem from Chien Lung's painting. Er Kang gets suspicious and decides to take her to his house in order to find out what relationship Zi Wei has with Swallow.

Er Kang, Er Thai and their parents discover the truth from Zi Wei and decide to help her. Er Kang believes that Zi Wei is the true Princess of Pearl, but his brother Er Thai thinks that Zi Wei is an imposter and Swallow is the princess. The first thing they plan to do is try to find out from Swallow if she is the real princess. The next day Swallow confesses to the two brothers and the Fifth Prince that she is the impostor. She wants to give this all back to Zi Wei, but she is afraid of what the Queen said will come true.

Now the six of them (Swallow, Zi Wei, Er Kang, Yong Chi, Er Thai, and Jing Suo) have a plan that will let everyone have it their way, so that Zi Wei gets her tittle back and Swallow won't be sentenced to death. The first step is to get Zi Wei in to the palace and let Chien Lung notice her because she looks similar to her mother.

With Ling Fei's permission, Zi Wei and Jing Suo went in the palace as Swallow's maid. Swallow gets in to trouble everyday by doing wierd things that has never happened in the Forbidden City. Every time she gets in trouble, Zi Wei helps her get out of it. As time goes by, Er Kang and Zi Wei falls in love. Swallow and Yong Chi falls in love.

The Queen and Rung Mo Mo pick on Swallow, Zi Wei, Yong Chi, Er Kang, and Er Thai a lot because the Queen is afraid that Chien Lung will only take advice from these young adults and not listen to her. The truth comes out. Zi Wei, Swallow, and Jing Suo, are sent to jail because of the Queen. Er Kang, Yong Chi, Er Thai, Lui Qing, and Lui Hong rescue them from the jail. Finally, Zi Wei gets her rightful title as the "Real Princess of Pearl," Swallow stays as the "Return Princess of Pearl," but as a different type of princess. Chien Lung announces that Er Kang and Zi Wei, and Yong Chi and Swallow are to be engaged!

This is not the end of the story, just the beginning! There is a part two to this drama series. The couples meet new friends, get in to more dangerous trouble, the two princesses are sentenced to death. Once again Er Kang and Yong Chi rescue them. They all run away from the palace. Chien Lung personally asks the four to come home. The four of them make peace with the Queen and Rung Mo Mo. In the end, everyone gets married, and everyone lives happily ever after!!
